Chapter 4

At 1:07am as they are driving through the streets, margo reveals that she is planning an act of revenge for her ex-boyfriend and her best friend. Chapter 4 mostly explains how revenge is done. It was confusing to understand all the steps and was quite arduous to imagine the situation whilst reading it. Apparently, Margo's friend Becca and her ex-boyfriend Jase were together that night and their plan was to expose them to her parents. The revenge succeeded and surprisingly Quentin was also playing a big role throughout the process. I realized that Quentin was more adventurous and outgoing than I thought he was. 

Chapter 5

the next stop was to Karins' house. Karin was the one who told margo about Jase, and due to the shock, she exploded at her with insults. They leave a bouquet of flowers for Karin as an apology. They then stop by Lacey's place. Lacey had known about Jase and Becca but never told margo which was why she was upset. Leaving another catfish in her car, margo tells Quentin to spray-paint an M on the roof of Lacey's car and they touch the tips of their pointer fingers, staining both of their fingertips blue. When I was reading this last part it didn't mean much to me then, but the next day Quentin wakes up and is unsure whether or not what happened last night was real. However, the blue stain on his fingertips is what makes him realize that all of the occurrences were real. 

Chapter 6 

Quentin and Margo drive into downtown Orlando to go up the SunTrust building. As they climb up to the twenty-fifth floor, they come to find the most amazing breath-taking view of the whole town.  Margo points to the small houses and describes Orlando as a "paper town". The title. Whenever the title of the book is mentioned in novels or movies I get excited because it usually means something and you gradually understand the meaning of all the questions you had in your mind at the beginning of the story. So in this chapter just realizing that margo mentioned "paper town" made me a little thrilled!

Chapter 7 

Margo constantly has tricks up her sleeves that surprises Quentin as well as the readers. Just by reading these few chapters, it felt like a whole story just finished. The two characters ended up talking until late at night looking down at the small town. The author John did a great job in portraying a dreamy situation and it almost felt like the story was coming to an end.

     In small groups, we watched short clips of the “meatrix”. They unfold the truth behind factory farming and industrial agricultural practices. The meatrix included scenes of the movie matrix, and by adding humor they were able to attract a wider audience. As of right now, the clips are available in 11 languages, which does not include Japanese. As Mr.Paterson mentioned, cognition regarding current issues is low in Japan. Not only does the video explain the issues surrounding factory farming, but it also gives out information on what viewers can do. Moreover, each version of the meatrix followed the storyline of the actual movies, which I found enjoyable.        I found it interesting how Mr. Paterson referred to this class as taking the "red pill". Over the past few years, my English skills have progressed, and was also able to gain more knowledge. On march 7th Tuesday, the first lesson after the new era, we learned how to use the website "Blogger". However, since the WiFi was not working, it was difficult to catch up and get to the page. Although the internet was awfully slow, i was able to use the website. This website allows us to write our reflections for every class and i think that writing reflection are important things to do, because it enables us to look back and see what we thought about a specific topic or I can see how much I changed looking back at my own reflections. Therefore, I also think that keeping a diary is also essential; however, I know how having to do something every day is hard to do it continuously but the task that mr.paterson gave us made me think that this could be a beneficial habit.

Year 4 Reflective Blog

     One business strategy I was stunned by was planned obsolescence, which is a technique that is certainly not sustainable, yet too common in contemporary society. The product is planned and designed by the manufacturers to have a limit so that consumers would come back. For example, Japanese houses are said to last around 30 years; however, it usually takes 30 years to pay back the mortgage of the property. Houses are designed to deliberately deteriorate so that people would keep buying new houses. The same goes with terminator seeds which I was completely unaware of. The DNA of the seeds is tinkered so that only one plant grows and is terminated. This strategy procedure creates a cycle so that consumers would have to come back for more. From these examples, I was able to learn how the efficiency of marketing concentrates on profit rather than the quality of products.
