 Today I had my feedback with Mr.Paterson and started off by explaining inferior points that I had identified. He mentioned about my lack of credibility at the beginning of the presentation. I explained how I’ve been working on this presentation for the past few months but I didn't talk about how I was as a book reviewer. Then it was about my slides. I didn't notice that I had used photos that were a mix of animation pictures and real-life pictures. I didn't think of it as an issue at the time of making my slides. we then went through my submitted book review. In my first submission, I had a few careless mistakes, such as the use of capital letters, etc. I was so concentrated on checking whether my sentences made sense and centralized my view on my grammar mistakes. maybe it was the lack of caution, but the fact that they were mistakes that I could fix in seconds, made me realize the significance of checking my work over and over. HE also mentioned that bigger gestures are mostly for larger audiences and for a small audience/ presenting room, we should have slightly smaller hand gestures. I found this fascinating since I thought that the bigger the gesture, the more it showed confidence. Which was why I brought up my small gestures when talking about our improvements. Getting my feedback, allowed me to process all the tiny details that I will include when I present again.

10/7 2021 meatrix

     In small groups, we watched short clips of the “meatrix”. They unfold the truth behind factory farming and industrial agricultural practices. The meatrix included scenes of the movie matrix, and by adding humor they were able to attract a wider audience. As of right now, the clips are available in 11 languages, which does not include Japanese. As Mr.Paterson mentioned, cognition regarding current issues is low in Japan. Not only does the video explain the issues surrounding factory farming, but it also gives out information on what viewers can do. Moreover, each version of the meatrix followed the storyline of the actual movies, which I found enjoyable.        I found it interesting how Mr. Paterson referred to this class as taking the "red pill". 5/26 2021 Steven Donziger

     Steven Donziger, a lawyer who stood up to Chevron cooperation is currently under house arrest. For the last two decades, they have been battling over an oil spill that had happened in Ecuador. It blew my mind that Chevron was purposefully ignoring the situation because they knew that the people didn't have a voice. Eventually, he won an $18 billion case against the corporation. Yet, Chevron has not paid a single penny. Donziger has a serious following among environmentalists, and his supporters claim that he is being vilified for unmasking the truth of an inconsiderate decision. On the other hand, Chevron is trying to sue Donziger for manipulating evidence and has continuously painted him as nothing short of a criminal.  In this class, we were split into three groups, each searching articles of Steven Donziger in NYT, WP, and WSJ.
